The Gallery: A Happy Memory

So this week’s theme for The Gallery is A Happy Memory.

The most obvious happy memories for me would be meeting P, Our wedding, finding out we were pregnant (all 5 times) and then obviously the birth of our 3 wonderful children.

But, those happy memories are typical of a mum, so I tried to rack my brains for another Happy Memory. Unfortunately, I didn’t find my childhood to be a very happy one…but there were a few occasions that I wish I could return to.

One being this:

This is a picture of me and one of my sisters. I think this picture was taken in about ’97 on one of our many yearly visits to our Nan and Granddad’s house in Bodmin, Cornwall.

I just remember so many happy memories of visiting my grandparents. I loved spending time with them. I loved the countryside. I never wanted to leave.

Sadly, my Nan passed away in 2000 (in her conservatory, looking out towards the beautiful countryside). My grandad followed 5 months later and I have never returned to Cornwall since.

So, this is my Happy Memory….a memory I would love to re-visit.

What a lovely memory to share, we can get so caught up in stresses and strains but the simplest things bring us the deepest joy I think. I hope you get to return to Cornwall.

You have been away from Cornwall too long. Put that right soon.

I have plenty of lovely memories of my grandparents too. Unfortunately I have very few photos of these.
